Standard 2

Skill and Fitness Based Competence
Physical education teacher candidates are physically educated individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to demonstrate competent movement performance and health enhancing fitness delineated in the NASPE K-12 Standards.

Element 2.2: Achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of fitness throughout the program.
Artifact: Fitness program and Current Level of Health Related Fitness

Reflection: While taking PED 182- Health Related Fitness at SUNY Cortland, I had to create an eight week fitness plan that would improve my level of physical fitness. This project was fairly easy for me since I already have a workout plan that I follow every day. My workout schedule includes running, lifting weights and biking. This workout plan also includes my results for my cardiovascular fitness, my muscular strength and endurance, and my flexibility. For most of these fitness areas I was in the high-performance area and for the others I was in the good fitness area.  Staying active is very important to me. I ran track in high school and I still love to run today. In my free time, I enjoy participating in races and every Thanksgiving I run the Turkey Trot at Rockland Lake State Park. In the future I hope to run the New York City Marathon.
